Am I eligible for Sophomore Living-Learning Communities (LLCs)?
All rising sophomores in the School of International Service are eligible to apply for the SIS: Interculturalist LLC for Academic Year 2022-2023.
Is there an extra program fee?
There is no extra financial commitment for participating in Sophomore LLCs. Note that some optional co-curricular activities may ask a small fee for participation.
How do I apply?
On the AU Housing portal’s housing reapplication, select your Community Preference within the application for SIS: Interculturalist. This is used for determining where you will live and with whom you can create a roommate match. The reapplication for AY 22-23 opened February 1, 2022.
What are the expectations for Sophomore LLC students?
As a Sophomore LLC student, you should plan to attend multiple co-curricular activities and events throughout the semester. You should also be prepared to participate actively in the required course for the LLC. Finally, you are expected to respect the residential community standards set by your floor at all times.
What type of co-curricular activities are offered?
Co-curricular activities can range from social to academic to informational. Previous activities included watching a local play, visiting museums in DC, attending alumni speaker events, playing board games, and much more!
Can Sophomore LLC students participate in other campus activities?
Yes! Sophomore LLC students are encouraged to participate in student organizations, university athletics, community service projects, and other campus engagement opportunities.
Can I live in a different residence hall than the rest of the Sophomore LLCs?
All Sophomore LLC students will live together on the same floor in McDowell Hall. If you require special housing accommodations, please contact Housing & Residence Life. Exceptions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
