Join us for Destination CAS — a hybrid experience that will welcome and orient you and other admitted CAS graduate students to AU. This two-day event will feature informational webinars and virtual faculty meetings along with in-person campus tour and an evening reception in Washington, DC.
You will soon discover that the CAS graduate experience extends far beyond the classroom. This two-day event is a great opportunity to connect with faculty, alumni, and current students, and get a sense of what it will be like as a graduate student within the invigorating AU community.

Please note: the PhD Clinical Psychology and PhD Behavior, Cognition & Neuroscience programs will not be participating in the Admitted Student Event.
Schedule of Events
Thursday, April 7
- 12:30-1:30 p.m.
- Dean's Welcome (Virtual)
Join Dean Max Paul Friedman for an official weclome and short presentation on American University's College of Arts & Sciences. A Q&A with Dean's Office representatives will follow. - 2:00-3:00 p.m.
- Faculty Meeting (Virtual)
Meet with faculty from the graduate programs in: Anthropology, Art History, Arts Management, Audio Technology, Creative Writing, History, Health Promotion, Mathematics of Information & Security, Philosophy/Ethics, Peace & Human Rights, Studio Art, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Certificate program. - 5:30-6:30 p.m.
- CAS Alumni Panel (Virtual)
Attend a panel with notable Alumni from across the College of Arts & Sciences who will discuss role AU played in the foundation of their careers. - Confirmed panelists include: Ayman Abunimer (Biotechnology), JR Denson (Health Promotion Management), Dr. Jeffrey Levy (Economics), and Satsuki Weissleder (Public Anthropology).
Friday, April 8

- Faculty Meeting (Virtual)
Meet with faculty from the graduate programs in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Environmental Science, Literature Culture & Technology, Psychology, Quantitative Analysis, Sociology Research & Practice, Statistics & Quantitative Analysis - 2:00-3:00 p.m.
- Campus Resources Panel (Virtual)
Join us for an information session with representatives from AU's Counseling Center and the Academic Support & Access Center to learn more about the support and resources offered to graduate students. - 4:30-5:30 p.m.
- Campus Tour (In Person)
Join Graduate Enrollment Staff for a walking tour of AU's Campus. - 5:30-8:00 p.m.
- Evening Reception (In Person)
Join faculty and current students from the AU community for an evening of cocktails and conversations. Must be 21+ to attend; Food and drink provided.
